H is Program Director for the Massachusetts Genealogical Council and past Publicity Director. He served as Treasurer of the New England of Association of Professional Genealogists. He holds an MBA degree from Suffolk University and a BBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was the lead researcher in Massachusetts for the recently released book from St Martin’s Press ,The Remains of Company D, A Story of the Great War, by James Carl Nelson. He recently completed research for the NBC television program Who Do You Think You Are?

As both a professional genealogist and owner of CavaGenealogy, Michelina is firmly convinced that everybody can develop a passion for genealogy as long as it is portrayed as more than a collection of names of deceased family. These are individuals with a communion of stories, pictures and lessons to teach us. She raised her three children in the neighboring town of Bethany and currently resides in West Haven, Connecticut. Ancestry: Father: William Forest Hill: born in Orange, Connecticut: His Father (Hill/Fitzsimmons) is Yankee (Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont; New York) and his Mother (Cronan/Schaffnit ) is first generation American of Irish/German parents. Mother: Caroline Michelina Maturi: first generation American born in New Haven, Connecticut: Her Father (Maturi/Romano) is Italian (Amorosi, Benevento) and her Mother (Castriotta/Cainazzo) is Italian (Manfredonia) with ancestry into Albania. Kathleen truly began her journey into genealogy by agreeing to man the Family History Center for two hours one Sunday a month. While there she just peeked at the films that were available for her hometown and from that peek a love affair was born. This was over 10 years ago and Kathleen can now be found in the FH Center or giving classes, presentations, etc. to various groups and clubs almost seven days a week. Kathleen has served as director of the Woodbridge Ward FHC for several years and as the New Haven CT Stake Family History Director for over 10 years. She has been involved with new.familysearch.org since before it was released in the Boston Temple district and enjoys the many improvements and advancements that have been made. By appointment, Kathleen has been actively working with many people in their research of their families providing hundreds of names, places, dates and stories for their personal journals. It is all a work of love.

Speaker_picture_29 Marian Pierre-Louis -- Marian Pierre-Louis is a House Historian and Genealogical Lecturer who specializes in southern New England research. She frequently speaks at conferences, societies and libraries on New England topics ranging from house history research, African American research and a broad range of genealogical topics. Marian is the Publicity Chairperson for the New England Regional Genealogical Conference (NERGC) and a member of the Membership Committee for the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). Some prior positions include Public Information Officer for the Association of Professional Genealogists and secretary for the New England Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists. Speaker_picture_54 Michael Potaski -- Mr. Potaski retired from the Defense Intelligence Agency as a Senior Intelligence Officer and now resides in Uxbridge, MA where he is active in local and state affairs. He holds BA in Political Science from the University of Maryland, an MA in Government/National Security Studies from Georgetown University, and completed doctoral-level studies in International Relations at the Catholic University of America. Mr. Potaski has been actively engaged in genealogical research for 50 years and conducts a Genealogy and Family History Workshop at the Uxbridge Library and Northbridge Senior Center. He is also writing a history of Uxbridge during the 18th Century. That research project has also resulted in a study of slaves and freedmen in Uxbridge as well as research on the African-American Brayton-Willard Family of Smithfield, RI and Uxbridge from 1730 to 1960.

Speaker_picture_73 Joe Rogge -- Joe retired in 2003 from the position of Superintendent of the North Adams Public Schools. Since 1985 he has been an adjunct professor at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) working in the Education and Computer Science Departments. Currently he is teaching CCCL100 Computers and Communications to undergraduate students. He is also a part-time computer teacher at St. Mark School where he teaches grades pre-kindergarten through grade eight. At MCLA Joe also serves as Faculty Co-facilitator of Service-Learning. He is married and has two daughters and two grandchildren. His wife, Janet, is the genealogist in the family.

Professionally, she has gained 15 years of experience through my formal education in family history and servicing clients by searching out pedigrees and creating books of remembrance. Through the years, Julie has become an expert in British Research and very proficient in American Research. Formal training includes a Bachelor’s Degree from BYU in Family History and becoming an Accredited Genealogist in England Research. She has been able to serve others in her local community, Matlock, Derbyshire, Provo, Utah, Des Moines, Iowa, by giving presentations and volunteering in Family History Centers and Genealogical Libraries. When Julie does research she does not focus only on names and dates but tries to find out as much information about the ancestors’ lives that is possible. Julie’s goal for each person is that they can gain knowledge of their ancestry and also an appreciation of their unique heritage. Julie feels that as one learns about their heritage, they will more fully appreciate it and have a better sense of themselves.
